Kentucky retired teachers association Legislative INFORMATION FOR THE 2026 SESSION
The 2026 General Assembly has officially concluded. The session was a positive one for the Teacher Retirement System (TRS). The final budget, HB 500 (FCCR1) has passed and fully funds both the teacher pension system and the retired teachers medical trust fund - an important win for our retirees.
Health Insurance Update for Retired Teachers Under 65 years old (KEHP)
Due to our retired teacher's advocacy and engagement, the legislature adopted the Governor's original funding proposal for KEHP. This significantly improves the financial outlook for members in 2027 and 2028.

The Kentucky General Assembly includes a House and Senate. Each Representative and Senator was elected by local constituents. It is a civic duty and responsibility to understand the legislative process, to be in touch with your Representative and Senator and, most importantly, to vote.
